This video captured the award-winning actress, who previously received the “Revelation of the Year” accolade at the Best of Nollywood Awards in 2012, engaged in an intimate act with an unidentified man, all while being recorded without her consent.

Taking control of the narrative on Sunday, Moyo Lawal took to her official Instagram page to release a statement addressing the situation. In her statement, she revealed the identity of the individual responsible for disseminating the video, asserting that it was done without her knowledge or consent. She expressed her distress, stating, “A private video of mine from a while ago has been inappropriately shared without my consent, violating my privacy and trust.”

Lawal went on to emphasize that the video was originally intended for her and her ex-partner’s private consumption and was never meant for public viewing.

She firmly stated her intention to pursue legal action against those responsible for this breach of her privacy, declaring, “However, this criminal breach of privacy will be treated with legal action.”
This incident has been particularly distressing for the actress, given her efforts to maintain a discreet approach to her personal life.

She revealed that she had even embraced celibacy for a period, eschewing frequent dating and choosing solitude.
Nonetheless, Moyo Lawal remains resolute in her determination not to allow this unfortunate incident to shatter her spirit.

She expressed her gratitude to those who extended their support and understanding during this challenging time, acknowledging that their kindness and goodwill have been invaluable to her.
In a twist to the story, a prior video of the actress surfaced on an X platform (formerly Twitter) in which she confidently asserted that she could not be dragged into any online controversies related to sexual matters.

She emphasised her history of making sacrifices and maintaining a discreet image. She said, “People know how I am regarding sex matters, so the last thing one could use to drag me down is sex.”
Complicating matters further, an X account claiming to belong to Moyo Lawal, @moyolawalofficial, posted a denial of the leaked video, insisting it wasn’t her in the clip and urging people to stop spreading fake news.

However, subsequent investigations revealed that this account was, in fact, a parody account. The official X account of the Nollywood actress is believed to be @moyolawal.

Moyo Lawal’s journey in the world of acting began with small-scale productions and the encouragement of a friend. Despite an unsuccessful stint on the Next Movie Star Nigerian TV reality show, she made her professional acting debut in the TV series “Shallow Waters,” where she portrayed the character Chioma. Her breakthrough came with her role as Chinny in the award-winning TV series “Tinsel,” catapulting her into the limelight.
